Blackbraid quickly followed up their 2022 debut in 2023 with more native folk infused furious black metal. This is by no means a sophomore slump as it is equally excellent, methodical, melodical, and approachable as the first record. 9/10

The first 30 seconds of "Revenge by Fire" convinced me to get the whole album! It is a face-melting blend of speed and black metal, reminiscent of Hellripper! KVAEN is a Swedish solo project much like Hellripper but many known guest musicians helped J. Björnfot in his endeavor. Altogether it is really a solid debut album, I loved the melodies and the pace changes in the second half too, ending with a "calm" instrumental one. Well-done!!

Well-established Finnish post-folk metal with a talented lady musician behind the concept, with devilish goth look, the voice of an angel and the growls of a demon. Really love the contrasting duality ever present here, it's so different than a "typical" folk band. This is still very special, and the atmosphere created by Vermilia is not the classic Finnish extreme metal, but still a captivating and immersive sound. This is an incredibly impressive album !!
